Patch poll about Sharp Park

Hey,

I've posted a poll about sharp park golf course as a followup to this move by plaintiffs for a prelim injunction.

Thanks,

Gee, someone sitting around in their underwear with nothing better to do has spent their time piling up the clicks. Let's base public policy on that!

How dare you! I was fully dressed but true I had nothing better to do.

I just tried to vote again which was not accepted in the number count, which proves this poll is a much better "unscientific" poll than the last. Good work Camden and staff!

96% for keeping the 18 hole golf course at this time, including me. Hurry-up and vote 4% "losers" who prefer the alternative: more unproductive dirt for this city (until the Pacific ocean sweeps West Sharp Park out to sea).

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

If Facebook can take down a regime, it can certainly collect 2000+ votes in a few hours/days/minutes. 72 people recommended it, each probably having 300+ friends... a percentage are local and interested in this hot topic. After they vote, they post it to their status and ask friends to vote. Sorry Anon, get with the reality of the tech revolution in which you are living. You're probably still using PowerPoint too.

I decided to experiment and it took me 30 seconds to cast 150 votes for "I don't know." All you have to do is click submit as fast as you can and each click is registered as a vote.

Sorry, this isn't Pacifica's Arab Spring.

Camden's incorrect -- it uses a cookie and not IP address to try and limit votes.

Try private browsing and feel free to stuff the ballot for your side. The golf course poll is as irrelevant as the highway widening poll.

Anon@1146 In your smugness you miss the point completely. No one here is doubting the power and influence of technology but to be blind to its potential for manipulation is naive.

Of course the golf course is winning by a large margin. Just common sense given the organized public support of golfers and friends but as Cameron states on the poll site this is not a scientific poll. It's silly to try to certify these results as more significant than "unscientific". I've voted for golf 4 times on 4 consecutive days and watched the total votes ticker change each time. Must be like that dog park contest where you could vote once a day but not more than once a day. So what! Golf will always win in Pacifica and with friends.

Maybe we can get Mayor Nihart all worked up to "get out the vote" on this poll if Pacifica Patch promises to donate a big bag of dog kibble???
