Did anyone hear if the victim had a toxicology report??
DEFENDENT: Your honor, I may have been so drunk that I couldn't see my own hand in front of my face, but the person I hit and killed with my car was on prescription painkillers.
JUDGE: Case dimissed!
Some one walking died vs. a moving car ran over him. Want to re-think that one "Wapner"?
DEFENDENT: Your honor, I may have been so drunk that I couldn't see my own hand in front of my face, but the person I hit with my car had dropped dead in front of me just seconds before.
JUDGE: Case dismissed!
Lord have mercy.
Hi Lois! How is your world?
Judge Wapner 8:27pm, interesting hypothesis. Guess we will wait for the report, unless you know that's what happened (if so yuck).
Doesn't matter what happened. A young man who was loved by many is dead. Someone driving drunk hit him and left the scene.
He worked with his mom and as mother son real estate team for Coldwell Banker in Rockaway Beach. nice kid.
Update of this horrible tragedy from Mercury News 2/23/11.
"After the crash, Tobilla drove home and called his insurance company, according to authorities. His insurer told him to go back to the scene, which he did, and turn himself in." Yea, but "...car Investigators are also looking for a white 2000-2006 Mercedes-Benz C or SL Class that may have hit the victim AFTER Tobilla, Pacifica police Capt. Dave Bertini said".
"Garrigan was not in a marked crosswalk when he was hit about 1:30 a.m. while crossing a dark section of Skyline. He was pronounced dead at the scene".
Yea, but Tobilla left the scene of the accident and apparently did not attempt to help Garrigan-- how could he NOT do that? Followed by another car hitting Garrigan. Eh gad, another "hit and run" leaving the scene of the accident.
As Lois (2/22, 10:06pm) said "A young man who was loved by many is dead". Beyond condolences, this tragic accident and premature death may have been preventable.
So very sad. Mr. Garrigan's family and friends must be heartbroken. What a terrible waste of a young life.
