Facebook threats to Speier probed

Several active-duty Marines are being investigated by federal law enforcement for allegedly threatening a local congresswoman through social media.

U.S. Capitol Police launched the investigation after U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo, received threatening and disparaging messages on Facebook from the now-defunct page “F*** You Jackie Speier.”

“Free speech is one thing, hate speech is another,” Speier said Tuesday.

Speier said she could not divulge the nature of the threats but confirmed that the page featured a doctored image of her with a black eye and a comment that said, “Someone ought to struggle snuggle the s*** out of her.”

The Facebook page also displayed several other messages and pictures celebrating misogyny and violence toward women, including a photo that showed a woman lying at the bottom of a staircase with the caption, “Next time don’t get pregnant.”

    "WTF are 'real voters'?"

  9. Palin/Bachmann 2016! Eager to silence critics who question their IQs and toughness, the ladies are going to start their own Think Tank. Out for a spin right now, yes they are. Will it be a patriotic M1-Abrams, a cheeky British Challenger or one they've both got a big soft spot for, a WWII era German Tiger? Let's not tell them what a ride in the M1-Abrams did for Michael Dukakis' presidential campaign. Don't forget your helmut and goggles girls!

Can both heads fit through the hatch?

I remember Dukakis in his tank photo. He lost the minute it hit the papers and tv.

  12. Speier is an idiot with zero power. Just a buttlicker.

  13. Anon 10:49 Is there any congressperson or senator that you do not think is an idiot?

  14. @119 You know Bachmann is his kinda girl and he misses Palin so bad. He's not eating. I'm worried about him. The vet says it's a broken heart. He just lays on his old blanket in front of the TV waiting for his girls to come on.

  15. 351 haha bet you were inspired by that 1049 "buttlicker" comment.

  16. Speier kills babies at nine months and after being born alive. She gleefully capitalizes off of claims of "women health issues under attack"

Babies see her coming and they scream in fear of her. Keep all children away from Jackie Speier.

Oh yeah, let's hear more about that, Anonymous? I can hardly wait. Meantime, I'll definitely be voting for Jackie Speier every time she runs for office. She has served our county and region well.

  18. Kathy, Do you always vote democrat?

Have you ever voted for an independant or Republican?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I vote republican sometimes if I think they are a better candidate. I also like Jackie Speier and will continue to support her.

  20. Yep, I used to vote for Republicans sometimes, if I thought they had a better candidate, Hutch. Now, on a national or statewide level never. The current Republican Party has run amok.

Nonpartisan citywide elections, frequently I do vote for our moderate Republicans. Voting for nonpartisan city or countywide Republican, Independent or Democrat candidates, for me depends on the candidate and their underlying ideology.

Nationally and statewide, FMV its time for moderate Republicans to take back their Party, and educate or kick-out the crazies. Alternatively, moderate Republicans could join the Democrat Party (the big tent). Hope that answers your personal inquiry, Anonymous 9:12 AM.

  21. People who make disparaging remarks about Jackie Speier seem to know nothing about her history. A public servant, not in law enforcement, who gets shot doing her job and continues to work in the public sector deserves some respect. Whether you agree with her politics or not.

  22. Bachmann says she might run again for Prez in 2016. That's an answer to the Democrat's prayers. Nothing like a really really crazy Republican to get the Democrats to work together to win.
