One early evening, a week ago, I got a phone call from a survey outfit, calling to ask if I would support a parcel tax of $129.00 for our community colleges. A couple of months ago I got the same type of phone call surveying for our high school district, I beleive for the same amount. Looks like the schools are stuck in a hard spot. Maybe they need to take a good hard look at the same old people they keep voting in to run the show. The system is broken. The choices always seem to be; raise taxes or raise fees. Is it not the same?
I would encourage people to attend the screening of Walkout! A very compelling account of a the 1968 East L.A. Walkouts to protest the unequal treatment of Chicano students in the L.A. school district.
