August weather - who can you trust?

From weather.com.  "Patchy morning drizzle possible.  Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon.  High 62F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph."  Sunny Skies!

In weather language, trust me, Linda Mar Valley partially cloudy "patchy morning drizzle possible" means completely overcast, drizzle from 9pm last night through this morning and counting.  Sunny upside:  no reason to water the plants and lawn.

  2. Pacifica weather, sports and traffic is mildly interesting.
What we really need is an easy to understand regularly scheduled Pacifica economic report.

  3. Mike and Jim, to some extent I am mildly amused and disappointed with the weather report for Pacifica, which (for whatever reason) does not come close enough to describing our actual weather. The 10 day forecasts have been way off. Plus, its Summer. From my view some fog is "acceptable" during June, July and August, but this year has been HUMID, cold and every few weeks we have had rain or drizzle described as "chance of".

There may be similarities to Pacifica economic report, which fluctuates, is subject to change, and may be hard to read. I think similar to you, I am less interested in reading the distress of Pacifica economics, and more interested in seeing structural improvement. Of course, we know how that must happen, its called develop the 88 acre quarry for economic growth. Developing Palmetto may help some.

  4. Good analogy.
Pacifica's weather prognostications almost never match actual conditions.

The economic BS that Council(3)spews, especially around election time, also never matches actual conditions.

I think a regularly published simple graph (I think excel can do this) showing revenues, expeditures and the growing deficit would help keep these story teller's feet to the fire.

We can make posters out of them and hold them up in the air everytime Council and the PC starts gushing over a faux-enviro or voting to kill development and give away more of our land.

  5. Was that a "count us in" for the new beautification committee? Got some parcels you want to beautify?

  6. boring.

this thread and so many others on various Pacifica blogs yap about all manner of ills. But no follow-up to a solution. No pressure on council to do anything. No statements in the Tribune.

Nothing but endless talk and no conclusions.

Hope this all makes you feel better but it accomplishes little.

You all want a graph of revenues, expeditures and the growing deficit? Make it happen!

And forget about the weather report. Geez.

  11. Divergent (parallel) subject matter and dialogue frequently brings forth convergent (solution) thinking, as was the case with Mike's follow-up comments. Anons, this process is constructive and material-- different than bitching about bitching, or admitting boredom (remember what is said about that).

Key graphed financial information may have more meaning to the public than it does to city council 3 who have been privileged to view the financial deterioration of this city (through their own actions or lack there of) over the past 8+ years.

  12. Give that info to the Finances Task Force. All they get is old info from the city. But that's how that works, isn't it?

  14. "..you copied and pasted that..."

Anon (257) the comment is a simple "copy and paste" from my educated, reasoned, observational brain, with a quick philosophical resource link for those who need a foundational reference.

Abstract reasoning is what humans are designed to be good at, higher education probably improves that capacity and process for most. Hopefully high school students will seek higher education. And, during a weak economy staying in school may be beneficial if you can afford it.
