ReplyDeleteRather sad that it takes a fourteen page Communication Plan to figure out that Pacifica residents should be informed as to what discussions City Council are having that might impact its citizens. Once upon a time, in a land far,far away, I recall that coverage of Council meetings was provided by a Tribune reporter. Maybe not every single item was reported, but it was a reasonable attempt to keep the public informed.

A Utah town set the gold standard for election mismanagement this month when it simply forgot to hold an election.
ReplyDeleteThe town of Wallsburg, Utah, was meant to elect a new mayor and city council on November 5. But, the Salt Lake Tribune reported, the person in charge of running the election forgot to make the necessary preparations, like letting people know that the filing period for candidates had opened, and printing ballots.
By the time the mistake was realized, it was too close to the day that was supposed to be election day to remedy the situation
Instead, Wasatch County Clerk Brent Titcomb told the Tribune: “They’re going to have to appoint the current mayor and council for two more years and they’ll advertise and have people elected” in the next election cycle two years from now.
This is the second cycle in a row that the town has forgotten to hold an election.

The 2012 population of Wasatch, Utah is 272; easy to see that they could drop the ball. That could never happen in a city like ours of some 40,000 population. Could it? Could it? I can almost see the gears spinning in a few of our elected officials minds.

ReplyDeleteI went their once when we were staying at Deer Creek State Park. It had a Drug store with a Soda fountain. Best malted milk I ever had.

Jimmy V is gone, didn't finish his last term. You should watch the current muppets and their attorney for tricky paperwork.
