Pacifica Tribune, Letters to the Editor, 11/13/12. "Library hours" by Ellen Ron, Co-President Library Foundation
"Editor, I'd
like to clarify a point that was raised in Oct. 31's letters to the
editor rCurrently, the San Mateo County Library System funds 60 hours a week that must be split between Pacifica's two libraries. This results in the limited days/hours of operation that can be so confusing.
One of the major benefits of a single new library is that it will be open seven days a week, with evening hours on four of those days. I can hardly wait."

I am in love with the plans. I watched the video and got a little emotional. This is a long overdue project , a project that will benefit all Pacificans and visitors. As a private citizen of Pacifica I was wondering if I could donate a small amount of money to help this project along. We should not wait any longer.
ReplyDeleteWow open 7 days a week. Nights, too. That's a smart selling point, isn't it? For what, 32 million dollars? I guess this new library comes with its own perpetual money source. Oh, hold on, that's us, isn't it? Now, I'm getting a little emotional. I'm feeling a strong attachment to our old libraries, stronger and stronger all the time.
ReplyDelete32 million.
ReplyDeleteMore like 40 million. City Hall thinks some developer is going to build this for them, in order to get the rest of the waste water treatment plant.
Like Aerosmith said, Dream ON!
Only the smart developers are left out there, and they where smart by passing on projects like this.
Can anyone say cost over runs? At the police station and waste water treatment plant?
Cowboy Scott, isn't around any more just to push things through.
whether a single library is a good idea or a bad idea, there's still a hefty price tag attached.
ReplyDeleteJust where is all that money to build it to be found?
In your wallet.
ReplyDeletebut anonymous@11.12 a.m., my wallet is just as empty as everyone else's in town !
ReplyDeleteEmpty wallets and grandiose plans? This must be Pacifica!
ReplyDeleteGee, possible sales tax measure, possible library bond measure, maybe another parcel tax...decisions, decisions. Council will be spinnin' and grinnin' at warp speed trying to decide how best to fleece us. Consultants! We need consultants here!
ReplyDeletewhat are the requirements to be a consultant? i really like to spend other people's money and i'm good at it. do you think i qualify? what's that you say? you think i'd be a great pacifica council member. hey, be nice.
ReplyDeleteit's called Obama Money. I thought all you democrats loved spending money you didn't have? So might as well get what I want out of it. ObamaMoney. He gonna pay for everything.
ReplyDeleteoh cool. i have a list.
ReplyDeleteThe 40 million dollar library is a pipe dream!
ReplyDeleteNow, now, pipedreams like that are important, especially during election campaigns. How else can a candidate grab those votes? They've got to share the dream! Reality will kick their ass once in office.
