I think a lot of the credit for the cafeteria cash clean-up has to go to some city employees and department heads who saw first hand what it did to their budgets and talked about it. Convert unused benefit dollars to income and give yourself a double-digit raise. Imagine the surprise when those numbers show up on a dept budget and all the while you think you're cutting back. When ya going to stop hitting yourself in the head with that hammer Pacifica?
Ur' no identity Anon (1106), slam Tod Schlesinger for doing the righteous work of trying to save the city? That's "full of it". More likely Tod was a hero at city council last night.
Standing issue: build an economic balance in this city. Tod suggested a compromise to the eco-NIMBY obstacle in a getting the quarry or anything thing else built. He said "build half near the hotels and restaurants. Give the other half to 'Laurie Goldberg' and friends. Half is better than zero." As a real estate agent, Tod offered to broker a deal with the property owner. Pay him to "get the job done", why not? Nothing else has been happening with these dormant properties for more than 10 years.
Developing these properties should provide revenue for the city, a regional service upgrade, and some jobs. Win, win!

ReplyDeleteAnd what did he add to the proceedings other than the cringe factor?
ReplyDeleteHutch, wonder what the current owner would get as a tax write-off for such a donation?
