for a blog that is supposed to be "out of touch" with Pacifica, we're certainly getting a lot of regular attention. Reflecting on the past few years, here's a partial list of issues the members of this blog have had right:
- removing the tires from Mori Point - NO on Measure D (bad tax at a bad time that would have affected those suffering the most during the economic downturn) - supporting a mixed use development on Palmetto - opposing the biodiesel plant (though I think Sinai supported the plant if it was all recycled cooking oil. Evidence suggested it wouldn't be, and the collected oil mysteriously disappeared from the storage shed at the Beach Boulevard location) - forcing the city to hold open meetings BEFORE closed session discussions as required by law - supporting the Little Brown Church museum for the Pacifica Historical Society - pressing for the re-formation of the Economic Development Committee - SAVING SHARP PARK GOLF COURSE!!
We certainly don't feel like "Fox Pacifica" and hopelessly out of touch with the mainstream . . .
Some of the members of this blog have been extremely supportive in trying to get us dogs at least one legitimate dog park in Pacifica. We really would love to have a place to legally play fetch in Pacifica. Right now, we don't.
I'm glad you brought that up. DeJarnutt promised POOCH a dog park AFTER Jeff Simons brought it center stage. A year later POOCH is still waiting for a City Hall response. I guess whoever disappeared the $7.5 million reserve took the dog park with them as well. Wake up Pacifica!
The 2002 City Council voted unanimously (DeJarnutt was absentee -- the coward; CAT COWARD!!!) for the off-leash dog beach at Sharp Park from Clarendon south to Mori Point. Great dog beach! San Francisco even officially approved it thanks to the lobbying of Suzanne Valente.
The current City Council has taken it away without public comment or process. Send 'em packin... Maestro please:

well, the dog park is moving slowly but surely through the city planning process (we all know how long that can be) but I think POOCH has it moving in a positive direction as they continue their fundraising. POOCH is planning Dog Daze II, a follow up to their highly successful dog fair last year at Sea Bowl.
