we already have 5 czars/czarinas. the throne is occupied, and, more importantly, we have no rubles in the treasury. where are the Bolsheviks when you need them?
economic development = sustainable development = NO development = Pacifica poverty = Pacifica Today & Tomorrow (oops, sorry...that one was already taken for Measure L)
yeah, development, hmmm and how very interesting was the number council performed last night re commissions and committees? specifically that whole Open Space thing with dozens of concerned speakers. Stone and Nihart went out of their way to say that the repurposing and re-seating of commissions and committees, specifically Open Space, meant "no shift in policy". Excuse me, but, why the hell not? isn't a shift in policy towards open space and related city planning what we so desperately need? I've got to assume Nihart and Stone wouldn't lie on the record and that means...aw crap!
What do they call a vacant seat on the Open Space Commission, anyway? Open space? And if so, wouldn't it take the Open Space Commission to decide on the ultimate disposition of that "open space"? And what if the vacancy was substantial and we couldn't get a quorum of Open Space Commissioners to make that decision? Would time stop in Pacifica? Would this be the end of coastal life as we now know it? This whole thing makes my head hurt...
Many of those who spoke before council in favor of keeping the Open Space Committee are members of PSD, Pacificans for Sustainable Development, or damn close first cousins. Hall, Verby, Blincoe, Maykel, Goldberg, Bohner, Leon, Keitelman, Adams, Johnson, etc. Apparently what they said struck the right cord with council who offered them all kinds of reassurance. These people and their attitudes and efforts blocked development for decades. By all means, let them keep the shovel to finish burying Pacifica. Go figure.
PTP thanks for clearing that up. I get it. The lack of quorum for the Open Space committee created a vacuum that just sucked the life out of Pacifica. Kind of like a Black Hole. It's a wonder the planet didn't spin out of orbit and kill us all. Why does council listen to these people who are so openly and effectively anti-growth? Because council needs their votes on election day.

The people who are at fault for Pacifica being poor broke busted and heading towards Bankruptcy.
